TROPICAL NO₃^- TEST is used to measure the concentration of nitrate (NO₃^-) within the range 0‑100 mg/l in fresh and salt water. It is convenient and extremely easy to use. The reagents are added to the water and after a short time cause discoloration of the sample. The nitrate concentration is obtained by comparing the colour of the sample with the enclosed colour scale. In the aquarium, nitrate is produced during the bacterial breakdown of fish wastes, uneaten food, and other organic substances.
